Samsung Galaxy A9 Hands on Review

The first thing that comes to my mind when I hear about Samsung Galaxy A9 is the Quad-Rear Camera set up. Samsung has been very impressive in their mid-range smartphone series and now it's time for Galaxy A9. Most of you don't know but Samsung Galaxy A9 holds the record for the first ever smartphone with the Quad-rear Camera set up. We got this review unit for about 3 days and we made sure of reviewing it completely on an honest basis. So, we will provide a detailed review here and let you know whether it's worth for you. We hope you would like the entire review but let's make sure you read it to the end.

Samsung Galaxy A9 Design

The design is not something which is totally new. The year 2018 has been the year of Notched display smartphones but unfortunately, we won't see any notch in Galaxy A9. Samsung has added their traditional display. At the back, you get the Quad-Rear camera set up which is aligned vertically at the corner. The placement of the Rear Cameras is placed so brilliantly so that the cameras don't consume extra space.

Also, you get a fingerprint sensor at the back which works absolutely fine and accurate. The overall design of the Galaxy A9 is wonderful as it has metal glass body on the front as well as on the back.

The Samsung Galaxy A9 is available in three vibrant colors including Caviar Black, Lemonade Blue, and Bubblegum pink.

Samsung Galaxy A9 Display

Samsung has never compromised in the display quality and this time as well, Galaxy A9 has Super AMOLED Touchscreen display with 18.5:9 aspect ratio. I wonder why Samsung hasn't introduced the Notched display yet. I felt Samsung has lacked in this department but in some ways, this is good as they didn't want to copy Apple.

It has a Full HD+ Display with vibrant colors and ambient light display.

The brightness level is also awesome as the display is visible even in bright lighting conditions. Overall, the display quality of Galaxy A9 is wonderful.

Samsung Galaxy A9 Camera

Samsung has Quad-Rear Camera set up which is the main highlighting feature. It has 4 rear cameras at the back which is its main feature. The main camera sensor has 24MP of f/1.7 aperture lens, a 10MP sensor of the telephoto lens, an 8MP sensor of Ultrawide sensor and lastly 5MP camera of the depth sensor.

After talking about the camera specifications, let's talk about the camera quality. The image quality is wonderful and the pixels are very well accommodated. The depth sensor or the bokeh effect is perfectly fine. Overall, the camera quality is 10/10. If I compare the camera quality with the Samsung Galaxy S9, I would say Galaxy A9 is equal.

On the front, it has a 24MP camera with the f/2.0 aperture lens. The camera quality is again, brilliant which is placed absolutely fine.

Overall, I would say the camera quality of Samsung Galaxy A9 is 9.5/10 which is more than awesome.

Samsung Galaxy A9 Performance

The reason why Samsung Galaxy A9 is not a flagship-smartphone lies in the processor. It is powered by an Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC which has a clock speed of 2.0GHz on Cortex-A53. But you can probably do anything from this smartphone as it has a very strong processor.

It is also powered by Adreno 512 GPU which is a very strong GPU. I played many heavy end games like Asphalt 8, PUBG Mobile, Subway Surfers but didn't notice any glitches or frame drops which is a big success. I don't think you would ever face frame drops on this device as it has a great control.

Also, it has 6GB/8GB RAM with 128GB Internal Storage which is more than enough. So, there will not be any storage-related problems. Out of the 128GB, you would get probably 105GB of free space.

Samsung Galaxy A9 Battery

Samsung Galaxy has 3800 mAH non-removable Lithium-ion Battery which can easily run up to 2 working days. The Snapdragon 660 SoC is a battery efficient processor and this is the reason why you are very safe in running your smartphone. Even if you are a heavy smartphone user, you would still be able to use it throughout the day.

Also, it has Fast Charging technology of 15W which can charge this device in 2 hours. It doesn't have any DashCharging or VOOC charging technology but still, it can charge the device very quickly.

One thing that I didn't like about the Galaxy A9 is the lacking of Wireless Charging facility.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Quad-Rear Camera set up
  • Octa-Core processor
  • Efficient Battery lifetime

Cons

  • No Android Pie
  • No Notched display

Conclusions

Samsung Galaxy A9 is undoubtedly the best buy in this pricing range beating out all the odds of OnePlus 6. But I would suggest you all wait for OnePlus 6T so you can make a healthy comparison between the two. But if you are looking to buy the smartphone, you can buy without a doubt as it is really a great smartphone.

But I wanted to know from your side, did you like Samsung Galaxy A9? Let us know in the comments section.
