Huawei is flying very high as they have replaced Apple to be the 2nd largest smartphone company after Samsung. The reason is quite obvious, we have seen enough smartphones from Huawei and Honor that are ruling in the smartphone industry and I guess they are going even higher from the path it seems. Today, we will be talking about Huawei's newly launched device, Huawei Nova 3i which is nearly a flagship smartphone. I got this review unit for about a week and I used it thoroughly and now I'm ready to conclude how I felt about Huawei Nova 3i. I acknowledge the review is true and best to my knowledge and would be completely unbiased. So, what are we waiting for? Let's start:

Huawei Nova 3i Design
The smartphone can be categorized in a mid-range smartphone but its design looks like a premium flagship smartphone. The design is inspired by a combination of glass and metal which looks fascinating. There is a glass coating at the back which seems like iPhone X. The position of dual rear cameras are vertically just like iPhone X and fingerprint sensor is at the right place. Also, at the back, it has a dual LED flash which means the flashlight would be extremely bright.
Now, coming to the front, you get a 19.5:9 aspect ratio with a notched display with dual front cameras on the front. The good thing about this smartphone is its premium design in spite of the fact it is not a flagship smartphone. Huawei has paid a lot of attention towards Nova 3i.
Huawei Nova 3i Display
The Huawei Nova 3i has a 6.3 inches Full HD+ Display with 1080x234 pixels and 409ppi pixel density which means it has above average display quality. Above all of these, it has a notched display just like Apple's iPhone X due to which it has gained a lot of respect. When I tested its brightness level, I found it very high.
I used to keep the brightness less than 25% all the time as it is too bright which is again a good thing. The viewing angles were great and totally visible from sideways as well. Overall, we have seen great display quality in this Huawei's device.
Huawei Nova 3i Performance
As being told, Nova 3i has been projected as a mid-range smartphone with Octa-Core HiSilicon Kirin 710 SoC powered by Huawei. This chipset is not a high-performance chipset as compared to Snapdragon 845SoC or Kirin 970SoC but we could still perform with Kirin 710SoC.
The GPU used in Nova 3i is Mali-G51 MP4. Basically, GPU is used in graphics or playing games. I tried playing games like PUBG, Subway Surfers for quite long and I didn't notice any kind of lags, frame drops or anything related to that which shows you can easily play games on Nova 3i without any problem. Also, it has a metal body so I didn't feel any heat while playing games.
Huawei Nova 3i is powered by 4GB RAM or 6GB RAM with 128GB Internal storage which can be expanded up to 256GB. Frankly speaking, 4GB RAM variant is enough for you, but if your budget is extended, then I would recommend you to buy 6GB variant as well.
Huawei Nova 3i Software
I'm quite surprised to see Huawei have used their own UI and not preferring Stock Android on Nova 3i. But no matter what, EMUI is also a great UI with several custom features.
Nova 3i is running on Android v8.1 Oreo with EMUI 8.2 on the top and there would not be any problem while using this device. Also, on the other hand, EMUI provides several features like security and customization which were not present in Stock Android.
Huawei has also promised they would send regular security patch updates and even Android Pie update as soon as possible which is a great plus point.
Huawei Nova 3i also has a Face Unlock feature which is working perfectly fine. Although, it takes around 1 second of time to unlock your device but its completely normal.
Huawei Nova 3i Camera Performance
Huawei nova 3i is powered by Dual rear cameras which is quite normal to see nowadays. It has a 16MP (f/2.2 aperture lens)+ 2MP (Depth Sensor). The secondary camera is specially used for depth sensing but is not very powerful. I would not say Nova 3i has the best camera in this price segment but it works absolutely fine and if the camera is not your first priority, you can rely on this device.
The front camera is also a combination of dual cameras of 24MP+2MP which is a great thing, to be honest. There are very fewer smartphones in the industry having 4 cameras in total and Nova 3i is one of them now. I took some photos of Huawei Nova 3i and here are some results.
Huawei Nova 3i Battery
The Huawei Nova 3i is powered by a non-removable Li-Ion 3430mAh battery which can give an on-screen time usage of about 6 hours. During my usage, the device ran for about 1.5 days including gaming and all the stuff I have done with this smartphone. So, it has a great battery backup.
Secondly, it also has Fast charging support with 10W with which you can charge Nova 3i completely in around 2 hours. So, I recommend Nova 3i has a good battery backup as well as charging support.
Huawei Nova 3i Pros and Cons
- Premium Design
- Dual Front Cameras
- Fast Charging Support
- Notched Display
- Average Rear Camera
- No AMOLED Display
The Huawei Nova 3i is priced around Rs.19900 in Indian markets which is quite aggressive after seeing all the features. If the camera is not your first priority and you aim for a complete smartphone with a premium design, then I totally recommend you this device for your usage. But if you are planning to gift this smartphone to your parents hoping for a large battery backup, remember it would not be a better option.
Huawei Nova 3i is perfect for all types of audience and I think it would come up as one of the best selling smartphones in India at least due to its pricing.
