Huawei has launched its one of the best flagship smartphone of 2018 naming it as Honor 10 and it just might overrule OnePlus 6 in some time. Also, with the launch of Honor 10, there are threats to Nokia 7 Plus and Moto G6.
If we look at the history of Huawei, they have failed to impress us in the starting. But recently, with the launches of smartphones like Hono 9 Lite and Honor 9i has made Huawei little bit worthy.
Also, the best thing I like about Huawei is they preferably use their own processors which increases efficiency and performance of the device in a very positive way.
Today, I'll be reviewing Honor 10 based on my impressions where I used this device for about a week. I used this device thoroughly and bet this would be an unbiased device review. So, let's get started with looking at each aspect very carefully:
Honor 10 Specifications
- 5.84 inches (18:9 aspect ratio)
- 1080x2280 pixels (Full HD+ display)
- 1.8 GHz Octa-Core HiSilicon Kirin 970 SoC
- 6GB RAM
- 128GB Internal Storage (unexpandable)
- 16MP+24MP Dual Rear Cameras
- 24MP Front Camera
- Android v8.1 with EMUI v8.0
- 3400 mAH Battery
Honor 10 Design
The Honor 10 design is something which you won't be able to see every day. One good thing I liked about Honor device is they didn't copy the notch formula from the iPhone X just like other companies are doing. The design of Honor 10 is quite simple and appreciable. There is fingerprint sensor on the front which we don't see usually with 18:9 aspect ratio due to which the chin is quite thick.
Also, the Honor 10 comes in Phantom Blue which is glossy and eye-catching all at once. I'm sure you would be hypnotized and mesmerized when you see this Honor device at first. There are a 3.5mm headphone jack and a speaker grill on the bottom along with USB Type-C port.
There is also an Infrared (IR) Blaster on the top which is not common these days in smartphones.
Honor 10 Display
Honor 10 offers a Full HD+ display with 1080x2280 pixels resolution. To inform you all more, there is 434ppi pixel density which is obvious for this screen size. I tested this device in extremely bright conditions and found the color reproductions and brightness were adequate and comparable. Also, there are no other display issues founded by me. So, according to me, the display quality is wonderful.
Honor 10 Performance
Honor 10 is loaded with Huawei based 1.8 GHz Octa-Core HiSilicon Kirin 970 processor which is very powerful and battery efficient processor. However, I'm unable to digest the fact why the clock cycle is less as they could have gone for up to 2.2GHz using the same processor. But you don't have to worry about the processor as it is one heck of a stronger processor.
I tested some heavy games like Asphalt 8 and PUBG on this device and played without any glitches or lags.
Additionally, there is 6GB RAM option available which will be sufficient for users. Also, there are 128GB Internal Storage with no expandable slot.
Honor 10 Camera
This Honor device is all hyped due to its camera performance as Huawei is portraying its camera to use AI technology. The rear cameras are specified as 16MP (RGB Sensor with f/1.8 aperture lens)+ 24MP (Monochrome sensor with f/1.8 aperture lens) which works on Artificial Intelligence technology to capture better images. The photos will still be better even if you're a poor photographer.
I shared some of the images I clicked from Honor 10.
Also, the front camera is a 24MP Camera using one of the better technologies. It is capable of clicking wonderful images even in low-light conditions.
Honor 10 Battery
Honor 10 has non-removable Li-Po 3400mAH Battery which will usually last for 1 day. However, the battery is very less but as I said, the Kirin 970 processor is so powerful, it would run up to 1 working day. Over my usage, Honor 10 device gave me an on-screen time of 6hrs on a typical usage and lasted for about 26hours.
Pros and Cons
- Strong Processor
- Better Camera
- Front-end fingerprint sensor
- Low Battery
Honor 10 Final Verdict
This device is available at Flipkart only for Rs.32999/- which to me is not at all over-priced considering the price ranges for Nokia 7 Plus and other over-hyped smartphones. Also, at this price, you get a better deal with the awesome camera, better processor, and better display.
Right now, this seems to be a great option than OnePlus 6, however, I will separately compare these two to find and tell you all which is better.
