The notch of iPhone X has become a trending thing as all the smartphones are getting into the way for introducing the same notch. Now, a new entrant Vivo has also applied the same concept for this notch and they have come up with a better solution than Apple iPhone X in a cheaper price. On looking at the design, you would agree the fact that it almost looks the same as Apple iPhone X, so people who don't have enough credits to buy iPhone X can go with this smartphone as it has some decent specifications. As a result, we gor the review unit of Vivo V9 for about 3 days and we reviewed this smartphone on all aspects. We hope you would like our detailed review of this smartphone as we have invested a long time in making this unbiased review:

Vivo V9 Design and Display
There is not anything much to talk about Vivo V9 design and display as it looks exactly the same as Apple iPhone X. I would never hesitate by saying Vivo has bluntly copied the design from iPhone X. We know, keeping the design constraints similar to iPhone X could have helped them a lot, but making it a copy didn't go well according to me.
At least, they could have come up with a little bit design on their own and not a copy. Also, you get a notch just like iPhone X which is somewhat looking a beautiful thing about this smartphone. I'm not impressed with the design but the notch has even gone me crazy.
Talking about the display configurations, Vivo V9 has 19:9 aspect ratio with display of 1080x2280 pixels. You get a 5.5 inch display screen which has adaptive brightness feature whose brightness is even visible in heavy sunlight. I'm surprised by the display quality that Vivo is prividing here as they never provided more than HD resolution in their earlier smartphones. It's really tough to say whether there is any protection in the display, but we will get to you after some time.
Vivo V9 Performance
Vivo V9 is coming with 2.2 GHz Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 SoC which was offered in Moto X4. The processor is not very new but still, many processors like SD630, SD 636 and SD 660 have been launched. So, I was expecting a better processor this time, but we can't just ignore this processor. But I'm happy they are not offering Snapdragon 625 SoC. So, in case of performance, Vivo V9 won't let you down in any case. When I used my ViVo V9, I opened all the apps on my smartphone and the device still was responding very smoothly.
Also, you get Adreno 540 for GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) for better and smooth game experience. I played many games like Asphalt 8 and Subway Surfers. The games were pretty smooth on this device and I never felt like there was any glitch or lag in performance. So, you can imagine how strong Adreno 540 is in terms of game experience.
Vivo V9 Storage and Memory
In Vivo V9, you get 4 GB RAM and 64 GB Internal Storage which I guess is more than sufficient for a mid-range user. Since, this device is not for flagship users or not any alternate for flagship smartphones, so getting 4GB RAM and 64GB Storage is more than enough.
However, there is also dedicated microSD card slot which means you can additionally insert microSD card with 2 Nano SIM cards. This is a wonderful thing and even a bright feature. I'm mostly impressed with this move. I used 128 GB microSD card with my 2 Nano SIM Cards and the device was perfectly responding and working.
Vivo V9 Camera
You all must have seen Mr. Aamir Khan in Vivo V9 advertisements for Vivo V9 talking only and only about camera. So, one thing that is very clear is, Vivo has been portraying this as a camera smartphone. Now, let me talk about the camera quality and specifications very bluntly and clearly.
Rear Camera: The rear camera of Vivo V9 is also gifted with a dual rear camera setup with 12 MP and 5 MP. The Bokeh mode is highlighted in the advertisements and launch event. When I used its Bokeh effect, I found this was very much interesting and quality of photos were also better when taken in day-light.
Overall, we can praise the bokeh mode as it is perfectly using the second camera. Also, in the HDR mode, the quality of images can go upto 8MBs and were pretty clear and smooth. Also, the recording was default at 1080p, however, you can switch that to 4k.
Overall, I'm impressed in this section and I would say Vivo has worked a lot in improving rear camera of Vivo V9.
Front Camera: The front camera is the main feature of any Vivo smartphone. Talk about Vivo V5 or V7, the main highlight is always focussed on the front camera. In this smartphone as well, you get 24 MP powered by Artificial Intelligence making it more beautiful and more unique. I must say, Vivo has done nothing new if compare it to their previous V-series smartphones, but have improved a lot if you compare this smartphone with other brands.
Vivo V9 Software
Also, one good thing about Vivo V9 is you're getting Android Oreo v8.1 direct with this smartphone. Many smartphones have not reached to v8.1. Thanks to Vivo this time, for sincerely caring about their users and giving the users best and latest OS of all time. Also, they have guaranteed updates of Android P. The UI used here is FunTouch OS 4.0 which is also a copy of iOS. All the users, who use FunTouch OS would relate this thing.
Vivo V9 Battery
Vivo V9 is gifted with 3260 mAH Battery which means it would last easily upto 1.5 working days. Given that it has Snapdragon 626 SoC, which is a very power efficient processor, so it doesn't drain battery and will give you on-screen time of 6 hours which is mroe than enough. I'm happy with the battery optimization of Vivo and you might not face any issues here.
Pros and Cons of Vivo V9
- Dual Rear Camera
- Notch just like Apple iPhone X
- 4k Video Recording support
- Copied design
- not the latest processor
The Vivo V9 is already a brilliant smartphone with decent specifications. However, Vivo has not showcased its price but its estimated in $4000-$5000 which means it won't go beyond Rs. 30000/-. Under this segment, I'm sure you won't get any smartphone better than this one. But many people have personal concerns with Oppo and Vivo.
Earlier Vivo used to give MediaTek processors with just camera specifications camera but now they have given Snapdragon 626 SoC which is a wonderful processor. I'm sure this would be a better smartphone in Industry
