Infinix has announced the launch of their upcoming smartphone Infinix Hot S3 as Flipkart Exclusive. This smartphone is available in both 3GB RAM| 32GB Storage or 4GB RAM| 64 GB Storage variants on Flipkart. Infinix has portrayed this device as the selfie-centric smartphone as it contains 20 MP selfie camera. This smartphone should be directly compared with some other rival smartphones in the same pricing range like Infocus Vision 3, Smartron tPhone P, iVoomi i1S. But there are many things other than specifications which should be taken care of. I got this review unit of Hot S3 for about 3 days and I used it throughly testing many things including camera and battery performances. So, let's not wait any time and get into hands on review for Infinix Hot S3

Infinix Hot S3 Design
The design for Infinix Hot S3 is not very different from other smartphones. You don't get any extra functionality, but then you can't expect such things at this price range. I have no complaints in the design portion. In 2018, we have trend for 18:9 aspect ratio, so you get the same feature in Hot S3. At the back, you get a Dual-LED Flash with a fingerprint sensor on its correct location.
At the top, you get 3.5mm headphone jack for listening and playing music. At below, you get only 1 speaker grill, Micro USB charging port and noise cancellation mic. At the side, you get volume rockers and power button which are very common.
What amazed me in its design portion is the fact it has dedicated microSD card slot. So, you can insert 2 Nano SIMs and one microSD card which is a plus. Overall, I liked the design part as in the budget segment, you don't get these things often.
Infinix Hot S3 Display
Again, there is not much to discuss within as there is no new such thing. But one thing is there which I surely should tell you and that is 18:9 aspect ratio with thin bezels. Although, there are some bezels left on the bottom portion but the display looks even amazing in 18:9 aspect ratio. Further, it has HD+ resolution (720x1440 pixels) with an additional protection of 2.5D Curved Glass.
However, there is no such display protection but it seems fair enough with all these features to have this. The viewing angles are awesome and the colors are not dull. Also, there is an adaptive brightness feature which is another feature you don't see normally in budget-ranged devices.
Infinix Hot S3 Performance and UI
Infinix Hot S3 is powered by 1.4GHz Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC which I feel is a drawback. To be my best knowledge, this processor was launched back in 2016 and since then, this processor was overruled by Snapdragon 435 SoC and Snapdragon 450 SoC. Even at this price range, I felt Infinix should have thought at least about Snapdragon 450 SoC because the processor is very old and at this price segment is not justified.
However, this processor is Octa-Core and at least you can play some hectic games without worrying about over heating issues as Snapdragon 430 SoC is protective from over heating. Also, it comes in 3GB/ 4GB RAM variants. The speed of this device would not be less even if you go for 3 GB RAM variant.
The UI used here is XOS v3.2 and it is customized. It has several features including additional bloatwares. But I believe, this UI is a lot more better than Honor's UI. So, you can give a try in this UI as it is wonderful and have somewhat near Stock experience.
Infinix Hot S3 Camera
The rear camera is a 13 MP shooter with f/2.0 aperture lens. I tested its rear camera in open surroundings and day light conditions and I found the camera was very impressive if we talk about open conditions. Although, somewhere I felt the colors were little bit dull but still, considering at this price range, the rear camera passed my test. Also, it can record videos upto 1080p @30fps which is a bonus. There are several other features as well which you may like.
Infinix portrayed this device as a selfie-centric camera phone. The reason is a 20 MP shooter for better selfies with f/2.0 aperture lens. I tested its front camera and OMG! this really works. I was about to compare this device with Redmi Y1 but trust me, Redmi's Y1 is nowhere near to this smartphone.
Even in low light conditions, this camera works pretty fine. It has a Dual-LED Flash on its front portion making extra bright selfies in night time. Overall, if I were to give out of 10 to its selfie camera considering its price range, I would have given 10/10.
The battery of Infinix Hot S3 is 4000 mAH which would run approximately 2 working days. I would say, at this price range, the battery is also wonderful. Also, it has xCharge technology which means it supports its own fast charging technology. It's weird to see a budget-ranged smartphone getting these all features but yes the smartphone would easily run 2 days on charging 2 hrs at once.
Pros and Cons
- 20 MP Selfie Camera
- 18:9 aspect ratio
- 4000 mAH Battery
- Fingerprint sensor
- 2 years old Snapdragon 430 processor
- Rear camera is not impressive
This smartphone is available at Flipkart for Rs. 8999/- for 3GB RAM| 32 GB Storage variant and Rs. 10999/- for 4 GB RAM| 64 Storage variant. If you ask me personally, the value for money deal is in 3GB|32GB variant as at this price range, no other smartphone other Redmi Y1 and Smartron tPhone P is comparable. Even these devices would not match up the beauty of Hot S3.
Talking about the 4 GB variant, it is available in Rs. 10999/- which I guess is a competitive price as there are many smartphones like Redmi Note 4, Honor 9 Lite, Honor 7x. You would not be able to justify that amount and confuse yourself.
However, it is a decent smartphone with packed specifications. We just have to see whether Infinix will make a market out of this smartphone or get faded away. Let me know in comments section what you think
