Nokia 2 In-depth Hands on Review

Nokia 2 In-depth Hands on Review

INTRODUCTION

Nokia 2, by HMD Globals is the latest smartphone launched by Nokia. I have seen many videos and posts regarding Nokia 2 rating it as "Below average" smartphone, but we don't such stuffs without knowing all the things. So, here we will rate Nokia 2 on all aspects and let you know if you should buy. Generally, Nokia 2 is not for experienced users as it is a budget ranged smartphone containing Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 SoC. Now, we just have to look whether Nokia 2 is upto user's expectations or it faield miserably. So, here we are reviewing Nokia 2 with our best information:

Nokia 2 Full phone Specifications:

However, you can see the full phone specifications of Nokia 2 on our website, but still, here are the key specifications that you all need to know:

  • 5.00-inch touchscreen display
  • 720 x1280 pixels resolution
  • 1.3 GHz Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 Processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 8GB Internal storage (expandable upto 128 GB)
  • 8MP Rear Camera and 5MP Front/ Selfie Camera
  • Android v7.1.1 Nougat
  • 4100mAH battery

Nokia 2 Design and Display:

Nokia 2 does not look as smart as Nokia 3 or Nokia 5 but still we have a 5 inches screen to boast about and that's what makes it unique. Nokia 2 also capatalise HD display (720 x1080 pixels) where the pixels resolution is above average.

Talking about the build quality, Nokia 2 has aluminum body while Nokia 2's back is made by Polycarbonate. The fingerprint sensor is a missing link in Nokia 2 which may be disappointing to many of users. But still,  at this price range, the design and display specifications are moderate.

Nokia 2 Hardware and UI Performance:

Talking about the hardware specifications of Nokia 2, it has Snapdragon 212 which is powered by Qualcomm. Thanks a ton to Nokia team for not giving MediaTek processor otherwise my reactions would have been very much negative. However, Snapdragon 212 is a better processor if you compare it with any mid range MediaTek processor.

Also, you get 1GB RAM which might not be enough if you love a lot of games in your smartphone. I personally played some of the best games like Subway Surfers and Temple Run. They were smooth but the processor gets heated up if you play for a long run. So, clearly, Nokia 2 is not build for gaming purposes.

But the best thing here about Nokia 2 is it is Stock Android. So, you will never have unnecessary apps from Nokia and other bloatwares. Apparantly, this is the only smartphone in this range (excpet Moto C4) which is purely Stock Android. Thus, you will never complaint about its User Intreface as it is purely given by Google

Nokia 2 Battery:

Nokia 2's battery is powered by 4100mAH Li-ion battery which would easily last upto 2 days as it is stock android. During my use, the on-screen time for Nokia 2's battery was around 8hours which is maximum. So, all the other reviewers who are posting negativity about Nokia 2, here is the truth. The battery of Nokia 2 is not only impressive, but is far ahead of other smartphones in this price range. I charged Nokia 2 once in every 2 days and still was left with around 14-15% battery at the end. So, you can imagine how wonderful it's battery is.

Nokia 2 Camera Review:

Nokia has publisized Nokia 2 as the camera smartphone as they knew camera is not there priority. Still, you get high class 8MP rear camera and 5MP front/selfie camera. The lens which Nokia uses is Carl Zeiss Optics lens which is far more impressive if you compare it with other smartphones.

Overall, the camera is wonderful and the selfie camera also works fine. I won't brag too much about Nokia 2 in this department, but it still passes the test due to extreme strong hardware that is given by Nokia

Pros and Cons of Nokia 2:

Pros:

  • Gorilla Glass 3 Protection
  • Jumbo 4100 mAH Battery which would easily last upto 2 days
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 processor (in this budget range)
  • Aluminium frame (Series 6000 Aluminium)
  • Stock Android
  • Android v7.1 (upgradable to Oreo)
  • LTPS technology for low power consumption

Cons:

  • Missing fingerprint sensor
  • 1GB RAM (not enough for gaming)

My Opinions:

Since, Nokia 2 is being priced at $100, so in India, it would be available as Rs.6500- Rs.7500. At this price range, no other smartphone would give you Qualcomm processor. All the other budget range smartphones have either MediaTek processor, or there prices are very higher.

Also, this smartphone is best compared with Moto C4 which is falling in its price range. But Nokia is a reputed brand and they have improved a lot meanwhile. So, definitely, my vote goes for Nokia 2
