Well, it’s that time of the year and now we get the information that Moto has started to roll out the oreo firmware updates for its Moto Z2 play. The update is being rolled out over the air and is supposed to come laced with goodies as well as a much needed software patch for the Oreo. The update is being rolled out in a phased manner to all Moto Z2 play users over the air or you can avoid waiting for the phone to ring in an update and instead go to the download link, which is available online, and download what you need in one go. The first thing that you need to do is to head over to settings and to developer options and enable the USB debugging. And if you are not sure how to get into developer options, just head into settings and choose about phone, press on the build number seven times and you should have the developer options enabled. Now, go to settings and to developer options and enable USB debugging
Now, Download ADB and Fastboot driver for windows or fastboot for mac and install the same in your PC.
Now, go to the link featured in this post and download the Moto z2play Oreo update file and sae it to the same folder as the ADB and fastboot
Turn off your phone and go into recovery mode. Here’s how you go about it, first turn off your phone, then press down volume and power keys and hold them down until you see the “no command” option. Now press up both the power and volume keys and you should see the list with recovery mode, choose the same.
All you have to do is to connect your phone to your laptop
On the ROM folder, press shift, right click and select “open command”
Check for adb devices by typing this command, “adb devices”. If your device is ready you should be all set to flash ROM
Type in this following command to flash the Oreo update file to ROM, type “adb sideload file name.zip”
Now all you have to do is to wait for the process to be completed
Once the process is completed, all that you have to do is to is to reboot your phone and that’s it
With these steps, you should be able to successfully download and install the latest Oreo update; if the process sounds too complicated, then you may want to wait for the OTA update to ping in and let your phone carry out the required updates on its own.
