Mobile phone and Water damage - what to do next?

If you have dropped your smartphone into water, well, do not panic for the data is not going to go anywhere and it is possible to restore your phone, back to its normal state. Just read through some of the pointers posted below and you should be able to see how you can restore your phone. But to avoidany water damage it would be a good idea not to drop your smartphone into water in the first place.

Here are a few pointers on how to restore your phone back to its normal state.

Before we go into the various tips on how to restore your phone, you may first want to review what you need to do right away and what not to do. For starters, you may want to remove your phone from water, since the longer it is in water the more the damage. So remove it from water right away and do not try to shake it, or even to switch it on. And do not bang it as these actions will cause the water droplets to seep further into your smartphone and will cause more damage.

Remove the SD and batteries: The first thing you need to do is to remove the protective cover at the back along with battery, SIM card, and SD card. Once you have done this, you can then use a soft paper towel to soak up all the excess water from the phone. If your phone had been in water for just a few seconds, then this should work. However if the phone had been in the water for a while, then you may want to go on to step 2.

Rice matters: As hard as it may be to believe, uncooked rice works wonders when it comes to absorbing water. So once you have removed the back cover, take a small tin of uncooked rice, drop your phone into it, and let it dry out for a couple of days.

Turn it back on: After two days, you can reinsert the battery and try turning the phone on..usually the rice should work unless of course the water damage is too prevalent. Switch it on or try charging it and then switching it back on and if that does not work, then take it to the service center so that they can take a look at it.

But more often than not, rice works wonders when it comes to drawing water out of water-damaged smartphones, so if you happen to be clumsy enough to drop yours into water, then you may want to try out the steps listed above for quick resolution.
