But wait, most of you guys do not know about Samsung Bixby, thus I'm here to help you guys and tell you what it is capabale of. Please read the article and get yourself cleared:

What is Samsung Bixby?

Bixby is a virtual assistant developed by Samsung Electronics. On March 20, 2017, Samsung announced the voice-powered digital assistant named "Bixby". Bixby was introduced alongside the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ during the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2017 event, which was held on March 29, 2017. Samsung officially unveiled Bixby a week before launch but it only made its first appearance during the event. Bixby can also be sideloaded on older Galaxy devices running Android Nougat.

What Samsung Bixby Voice Assistant is Capable of?

  • Bixby comes with three parts, known as Bixby VoiceBixby Vision and Bixby Home. With Bixby Voice, the user can trigger Bixby by calling it or pressing and holding the button located below the volume rocker, dubbed the Bixby Button. A while before the phone's release, the Bixby Button was reprogrammable and could be set to open other applications or assistants, such as Google Assistant. Near the phone's release, however, this ability was removed with a firmware update.

  • Bixby Vision is built into the camera app and can "see" what one can see as it is essentially an augmented reality camera that can identify objects in real time, search for them on various services, and offer the user to purchase them if available. Bixby is also able to translate text, read QR codes and recognize landmarks.

  • Bixby Home can be found by swiping to the right on the home screen. It is a vertically scrolling list of information that Bixby can interact with, for example, weather, fitness activity, and buttons for controlling their smart home gadgets.

  • Bixby supports multiple languages including English, Korean and Chinese. It also supports contextual search and visual search.

Samsung Bixby vs Apple's Siri vs Google's Assistant:

  • It is Samsung's equivalent of Apple's Siri and Google's Assistant - which is pre-installed already in Samsung phones as they run the Android operating system.
  • Bixby will initially be available in only two languages - US English and South Korean.
  • The launch had been delayed since April.

  • Samsung did not give a reason at the time but early testers of a limited demo model - including the BBC - had reported that it failed to understand commands.
  • What makes Bixby different from other voice assistants is that it is deeply integrated with functionalities unique to Samsung devices, said Ian Fogg, analyst at IHS Markit.

Bixby Support:

Samsung Bixby include tailored support for its own hardware such as the curved edge screen, stylus, VR support and camera. Mr Fogg added that over time Bixby could also be included in other Samsung products which do not run on the Android operating system. "A lot of people believe one voice agent will become the sole agent everyone will use," he said of the rivalry among the tech giants over digital assistants. But in life we don't have one single expert that we trust for everything.

It might be they are good at different things. For the user it's just as easy to say Alexa, or Cortana, or Siri - there is no barrier to choosing an alternative voice agent. However, he added that the technology will only be successful if it is dependable. To make it work you have to be able to understand speech reliably. If you don't do that nothing else happens. That should be a given". The firm's latest device, the Galaxy Note 8, is due to be launched on 23 August.

Let's see if Samsung Bixby can be equally popular as Apple's Siri. Till then, stay tuned here as well
